Story ๐—”๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜: I got Scared after 40 Missed Calls from Grandma and the Case of the Forgotten Phone

Image
Once upon a time, in an era when smartphones are our constant companions, I experienced a rather unusual occurrence that I feel compelled to share. On this fateful day, I committed an unthinkable act - I left my phone at home. The subsequent chain of events led to hilarity and a certain level of enlightenment. When I returned home, I found 40 missed calls, all from my beloved Grandma. When I asked her why she'd called so many times, she simply said, "I wanted to tell you that you left your phone at home." If that sentence didn't make you chuckle, I don't know what will. Now, let's rewind a bit. Imagine a world where smartphones were never invented. Yes, a world without selfies, a world where we couldn’t Google every question that popped into our minds, a world without the convenience of calling a cab at the tap of a screen. A scary thought, isn't it? However, on this particular day, I inadvertently stepped into this alternate reality. I left my house sans ...

The Confession I Must Make to My Husband

Image
Dear Kwaku, I have been carrying a heavy secret that I feel the need to share with my husband: two of our children are not biologically his. This situation is different from many women who knowingly have affairs with their ex-partners; in my case, it was not my intentional wrongdoing but a consequence of my husband's choices. He used to work in Kumasi, a job that required him to be away for three months at a time. We could have relocated, but he preferred that we stay in Accra to avoid the stress and because he found the environment in Kumasi disagreeable. This was just two years into our marriage in 2010, with our first baby barely a year old. Despite the distance, this job significantly improved our family's financial situation, for which I am grateful. Before leaving for his job, my husband suggested my younger brother move in with us since our neighborhood was underdeveloped at the time. He wanted someone to ensure the safety of our child and me. I agreed to this arrangem...

9 biggest footballers who failed drug tests: Pogba, Maradona, Onana…

Image
Being an elite sport, football has a rigorous drug testing policy to ensure no team or player gains an unfair advantage by using performance enhancers. It means players have to be extremely careful when fuelling their bodies and taking medicine. Injuries, illness, it all adds up over the course of a worryingly expanding football season, meaning footballers must take tremendous care in looking after themselves. That means being wary of avoiding a lengthy list of banned substances. But by accident or intentionally, plenty of top players have been caught breaking the rules when it comes to drugs and had to face up to the punishment as a result. Here are eight of the biggest names to have failed a drug test. Disclaimer – Rio Ferdinand doesn't feature in the list. The English defender served an eight-month ban in 2003, missing the 2003-04 season, Euro 2004 and the beginning of the 2004-5 campaign with Manchester United, for missing a drug test. He later took the test and passed, but a...
